Beau Stubblefield-Tave
Executive CoachAs a coach, I help my clients to learn from the world: to shine with their unique strengths and overcome their unique challenges. My exclusive focus is helping each client be more successful and happier on their own terms. It is a leadership development process driven by the client’s interests. It is comparable to the relationship between a physician and a patient in that the patient is always in charge, and the physician or coach makes observations, brings in their knowledge and expertise, and makes appropriate decisions.
My coaching focuses on two areas–leadership development and work-life integration. After earning my MBA in health administration and policy at Chicago Booth, I spent 15 years in a diverse set of organizations: inner-city hospitals, the American Medial Association and the American Hospital Association, and ultimately Harvard Pilgrim Health Care, a million member health plan. I then moved into consulting with a focus on Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging (DEIB)/cultural competence..
New England Coaching, an affiliate of the Institute for Professional Excellence in Coaching, gave me the experiential training and didactic education I needed. My original goal was to use coaching exclusively with my consulting clients. I came to love coaching and have worked with individuals on career transitions and transformations, navigating advancement in an existing organization, mentoring and sponsorship, and non-profit board service. When I work with a client, I am open to whatever issues they are dealing with in work or life. In addition, I sometimes find it useful to bring in my own experiences to help the client move forward.
Every session should result in immediate progress and “homework” to help the client advance in between sessions. This makes coaching tremendously rewarding for both my clients and myself. I have served as mentor and protege, sponsor and sponsored employee, as well as coach and coaching client. Most of the truly successful leaders I have met have also filled all these roles over time. I believe strongly that lifelong learning is essential to authentic, inspiring, and impactful leadership.
I learn from each client encounter, and bring that new knowledge and wisdom to future coaching sessions. It is a powerful life cycle.
